Job Overview
This role is for a full-time or part-time role at one ALF in Eustis. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.
Duties
- Assist Occupational Therapists in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide direct patient care by guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities.
- Monitor patient progress and document changes in their condition or response to treatment.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for improving daily living skills.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Actively lead exercise classes, participate in community events, and work collaboratively with community personnel
- Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with team members and documenting patient interactions.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to occupational therapy practices.
- Experience in acute care, outpatient, inpatient, clinic, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Proficient in assisting patients with various therapeutic exercises and activities.
- Understanding of physiology and its application in rehabilitation processes.
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Requirements
- Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of Florida.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, ALF, or home health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of physiology and medical terminology essential for effective patient care.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to perform discharge planning effectively to ensure continuity of care.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care that enhances the quality of life for patients.
