Sr Commercial Property Accountant
- Maintain and manage lease accounting including base rent, escalations, percentage rent, and recoveries.
- Oversee lease setup and updates in Yardi (renewals, amendments, terminations).
- Manage straight-line rent schedules and tenant improvement amortization.
- Prepare and review annual CAM reconciliations including pools, caps, gross-ups, and tenant-specific recoveries.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with lease terms and GAAP.
- Own the month-end close for assigned properties within the portfolio.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and amortizations.
- Perform bank reconciliations and review daily cash activity.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations with strong supporting documentation.
- Ensure accurate general ledger activity and expense allocations across entities.
- Partner with Property Managers on tenant receivables and collections.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages including:
- Income statements
- Balance sheets
- Cash flow reports
- Budget vs. actual variance analysis
- Rent rolls
- Support reporting for ownership groups, asset managers, and lenders .
- Provide analysis on financial performance and key variances.
- Track capital expenditures across the property portfolio.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure proper capitalization and depreciation.
- Assist with external audits and financial documentation requests.
- Support tenant CAM audit inquiries and reconciliations.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3–6+ years of commercial property accounting experience.
- Experience supporting retail, shopping center, or mixed-use portfolios strongly preferred.
- Background working within institutional or third-party property management firms is highly attractive.
- Yardi Voyager experience (CAM, recoveries, financial reporting).
- Strong CAM reconciliation expertise including:
- Gross-ups
- Pool structures
- Anchor tenant exclusions
- Tenant caps
- NNN lease accounting and operating expense recoveries.
- Advanced Excel skills.
