Assistant Program Supervisor
Position Description
This is a supervisory level position responsible for delivery of DUI, SSS, IID and DATE services in accordance with the rules and procedures established by the Florida DHSMV and Florida Administrative Code (Chapter 15A-10). This position is to assist the Program Supervisor, provides daily supervision of the department, coverage when the Program Supervisor is not available and to monitor the DUI/SSS/IID/DATE offices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Program Supervisor will provide direct supervision of unit staff including hiring, termination and completion of employee performance evaluations in accordance with agency policy.
- Directs and coordinates provision of services to persons served in the DUI/SSS/IID/DATE offices, to ensure that persons served receive quality services in a timely and professional manner.
- Provides initial training to all new evaluators, for DUI, SSS and IID familiarizing them with the DHSMV guidelines, interview process and forms.
- Maintains film/video library by quarterly contact with all DUI /DATE Instructors, ensuring videos & equipment are in good condition and updated, as needed.
- Assists the Program Supervisor to provide ongoing supervision of all instructors including direct observation of at least two (2) hours each of a Level I and Level II DUI class per year, and review of their work performance.
- In conjunction with the Program Supervisor will provide ongoing supervision of all evaluators including direct observation of at least one (1) DUI evaluation and one (1) SSS update per year, chart review and staffing of their work performance.
- In conjunction with the Program supervisor will monitor the unit’s compliance with DHSMV standards and licensing regulations and assists with updating/ review of unit policies/procedures, as necessary, to assure compliance.
- Responsible for the monitoring of DUI/SSS/DATE certifications for instructors, evaluators, and clinical supervisors.
- Is responsible for being the court and probation liaison in all represented counties and will supervise submission of Student Observation/Incident Reports (HSMV Form 77008) and DUI and/or Treatment completion documentation by unit staff to probation.
- Responsible for marketing the department, through community and inter-agency meetings in the Highlands and Hardee counties.
- Performs other reasonable and related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other administrative staff.

- Clinical Supervisor (This position currently not in use.)
Required Training and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in human services from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of full-time counseling experience in a DUI, addictions, or mental health setting; or a master’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least one (1) year of full-time counseling experience in a DUI, addictions, or mental health setting.
- Possess a certification as a Certified Addictions Professional according to the Florida Administrative Code15A-10 for DUI Programs.
- Certification as DUI/SSS evaluator and Clinical Supervisor is required and as a DUI Level I & Level II instructor or DATE Instructor is optional.
