Therapist – Short Term Residential

Position Summary
South County Mental Health Center, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapist to join our Short Term Residential (SRT) program. This role provides individual, group, and family therapy to clients experiencing acute mental health crises, supporting stabilization and recovery. The Therapist plays a key role in treatment planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and discharge coordination to ensure continuity of care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field (required)
• Minimum one (1) year of therapy experience with chronically mentally ill or dually diagnosed populations
• Strong knowledge of adult mental health and crisis intervention
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to complete timely clinical documentation

• Three (3)+ years of clinical therapy experience
• Minimum one (1) year of therapy experience with chronically mentally ill or dually diagnosed populations

Duties and Responsibilities
Client Care & Therapeutic Services

• Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients in a short-term residential setting
• Conduct intake assessments and complete psychosocial evaluations within required timeframes
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans within five (5) days of admission
• Review and update treatment plans regularly based on client progress
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
• Develop discharge plans and coordinate aftercare services

Crisis Support & On-Call Coverage

• Provide support during crisis stabilization periods
• Participate in on-call rotation to support CCSU as required

Documentation & Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in client records
• Complete progress notes and required reports in accordance with agency standards

Training & Professional Development

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in client records

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Core Competencies

• Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and stabilization techniques
• Understanding of chronic mental illness and co-occurring disorders
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Professional judgment, ethics, and confidentiality

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, and interaction with clients
• Ability to use computers and standard office equipment
• May require responding to crisis situations within the facility

Working Conditions

• Residential behavioral health setting
• Frequent interaction with individuals experiencing acute mental health symptoms
• May require flexibility in schedule and on-call responsibilities

Performance will be evaluated based on:

• Quality and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
• Timeliness and accuracy of documentation
• Client progress and successful stabilization outcomes
• Collaboration with treatment team
• Compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards

Schedule & Work Details
Full-Time Position
Schedule: Monday – Friday (hours may vary based on organizational needs)
Location: In-person (Delray Beach, FL)
Pay: $27/hour
