VP Consumer Lending

SUMMARY : Directs, supervises and coordinates all activities of mortgage lending of the Credit Union in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the CEO by conducting the following duties personally or through others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the managing an effective mortgage lending program at FCU. Elements of the program include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain mortgage lending strategy for the origination, processing, underwriting, and funding of loans originated within branches; ensure that such functions are performed in accordance with credit union policies and procedures and coordinate efforts with appropriate divisions.
- Manage the mortgage loan production volumes and fee income and make improvements as necessary.
- Develop and maintain an action plan for all mortgage lending activities.
- Interact with mortgage lending staff related to loan activities.
- Support all departments with needs in relation to mortgage lending.
- Ensure internal controls are maintained in mortgage lending at the credit union.
- Responsible for keeping the CEO informed on mortgage lending activities.
- Responsible for overseeing all processes in the mortgage lending areas including:
- Ensuring all loans are properly underwritten.
- Ensuring processes are defined formally in the form of procedures.
- Ensuring processes function in an optimal manner.
- Ensuring processes are designed to measure results, identify corrective action needed, and facilitate needed changes.
- Ensuring conventional loans meet secondary market standards.
- Responsible for providing leadership in mortgage lending development for new products and modifying existing products in cooperation with other Senior Management.
- Responsible for working with the Training Coordinator to ensure staff receives proper training.
- Establishes uniform correspondence procedures and style practices.
- Responsible for ensuring mortgage lending procedures that will ensure compliance with all laws, regulatory, and board policies as directed by the CEO.
- Stay abreast of new government requirements and real estate laws in additional to policy changes within the credit union.
- Responsible for keeping the CEO abreast of all operational activities. Project status reports and any special problems should be forwarded in a timely manner. Alternate action should be included where appropriate.
- Responsible for working with all back office support departments and maintaining proper communication.
- Responsible for working with the Information Technology Department to ensure all computer based systems function in a manner that allow all lending related areas to function smoothly.
- Participates in formulating and administering company policies related to mortgage lending and developing long-range goals and objectives.
- Serves as member of management committees on special studies.
- Attends staff meetings to report and resolve problems.
- Enforces company policies for staff and enforces safety regulations.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Responsible for working with VP Finance to ensure loans are properly serviced.
- Compliance with OFAC, and the Bank Secrecy Act
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of Lending program. Coordination of lending goals and activities along with the CEO.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
BS/BA in marketing, finance, or business, and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in all phases of lending.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
