Summary:
Make sure S&B Metal Products always has the materials, consumables, and supplies needed to keep production running smoothly. Help prevent delays, control costs, and build strong relationships with our vendors.

1. Keep Production Supplied

What winning looks like:
Production never stops because we ran out of material or supplies. The right items are in stock at the right time without overbuying.

What it will take:
• Check inventory levels daily.
• Order materials and supplies before we run low.
• Track vendor lead times and plan ahead.
• Work closely with production and scheduling teams.
• Fix inventory mistakes quickly.

2. Control Costs and Manage Vendors

What winning looks like:
Buy materials at fair prices from reliable vendors. Vendors deliver on time and provide good quality. Have backup suppliers for important items.

What it will take:
• Ask for competitive pricing and negotiate when possible.
• Build strong relationships with vendors.
• Track vendor performance for delivery and quality.
• Find cost-saving opportunities.
• Work with engineering if material changes are needed.

3. Follow Clear Processes and Communicate Well

What winning looks like:
Purchasing is organized and dependable. Other departments trust purchasing to be accurate and on time. Problems are shared early so they can be solved quickly.

What it will take:
• Enter accurate information in the ERP system.
• Make sure purchase orders are approved and documented.
• Communicate delays or price changes quickly.
• Attend production meetings when needed.
• Look for ways to improve the purchasing process.

Requirements

Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience (manufacturing experience preferred)

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple vendors, orders, and deadlines at the same time
• Comfortable using ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with production, engineering, and vendors
