Landscape Shop Manager - Mechanic/Technician

Position Overview:

Hogan Landscapes is seeking an experienced and self-motivated 2-Cycle Mechanic, Commercial Mower Repair Technician, and Shop Manager . This individual will play a critical role in ensuring smooth shop operations, maintaining equipment inventory, managing truck organization, and supporting field teams by ensuring all tools and equipment are operational.

Start Time 5:00 am End Time 1:30pm 30 min lunch Tues Wed Thurs.... Friday 7-4pm

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

• Perform regular maintenance and repairs on 2-cycle equipment, including changing spark plugs, rebuilding carburetors, replacing filters, and greasing components on a weekly schedule.
• Sharpen hedge trimmers and maintain other tools essential to landscaping operations.
• Conduct maintenance on commercial mowers, adhering to Toro’s recommended schedules.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on John Deere loaders and compact track loaders to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain utility and dump trailers, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
• Minor welding experience is a plus for repairing separated metal components.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Schedule and perform routine in-house maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes.
• Coordinate tire services with Pep Boys.
• Collaborate with Auto Tenders for advanced vehicle maintenance needs.

Shop, Yard, & Inventory Management:

• Oversee equipment and truck inventory to ensure teams have the necessary tools and supplies for daily operations.
• Maintain organized and efficient storage of tools, parts, and equipment.
• Implement systems for tracking lost and/or broken equipment and hold teams accountable.
• Develop and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all shop operations.
• Maintain and organize the yard for ease of use and efficiency for teams, ensuring it remains well-organized and inventoried.
• Ensure all staff members return any company items or equipment they have borrowed to the exact location where they originally took it from, ensuring proper inventory management and accountability. If there are any questions about where to return an item, staff members should contact their supervisor.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Act as a team player by assisting with supply runs and occasionally driving company vehicles as needed.
• Adapt to changes and challenges within a service industry business, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a 2-cycle mechanic, commercial mower technician, or related field.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing small engines and commercial mowing equipment.
• Familiarity with Toro maintenance schedules and equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage inventory and schedules.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and efficiently.
• While YouTube can be a helpful resource, this position requires candidates with proper experience and training that does not rely on it as a primary source of knowledge.

Preferred Skills:

• Background in landscaping equipment repair and maintenance.
• Experience in utility and dump trailer maintenance.
• Minor welding skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with external service providers like Pep Boys and Auto Tenders.
