We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the Data Imports team. This role will focus on solving complex engineering problems related to automated data ingestion, transformation, and handling large data volumes. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining distributed systems that power the next generation of data, computation, API, and research platforms. Accountabilities:

• Architect and implement engineering solutions to address complex technical problems related to data ingestion and transformation.
• Lead individual projects, prioritize deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers.
• Write well-designed, testable, and maintainable code while following best engineering practices.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to strengthen the team.
• Communicate technical ideas clearly and set direction on projects to align with business goals.
• Document software functionality, system design, and project plans to ensure clarity for current and future team members.
• Promote engineering standards and principles, ensuring consistency and scalability across all solutions.

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Expertise in object-oriented programming languages, with strong experience in Java (or similar languages).
• Proven experience in building and maintaining large-scale, distributed systems with a focus on data processing.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL, OLAP) and data lake architectures.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud-based architecture is a plus.
• Ability to think critically, solve problems efficiently, and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
• A passion for implementing automated processes and promoting engineering best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and mentor other engineers to foster growth and innovation.
