Physician (Ophthalmologist) (Pensacola)
Summary
Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) is a multi-divisional health care system. The main hospital campus is located in Biloxi, Mississippi, with Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) spanning 300 miles along the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Panama City, FL.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent
- Residents enrolled in approved residency programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs)
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Preferred: Board certification in ophthalmology with at least 5 years of experience
- Proficiency in diagnostic and treatment techniques for eye conditions
- Advanced surgical skills for complex cases
- Physical requirements include moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, walking, standing, and vision capabilities
Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care in ophthalmology
- Conduct eye examinations and tests
- Prescribe and manage eye care treatments
- Perform minor eye surgeries and treatments
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Stay updated on ophthalmologic advancements
- Develop and implement ophthalmologic care plans
- Supervise and instruct interns and residents
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
