General Summary: The Cashier is responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include The Following: Other Duties May Be Assigned.

Customer Service:

• Project a positive representation of Your Local Ace Hardware.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers by name, when possible.
• Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
• Multi-task front desk duties to assist customers, answer telephones, and handle in house radio as well as other misc. job assignments.
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.

Register Operations:

• Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
• COMPUTER SKILLS ARE A MUST!
• Responsible for balancing of register drawer.
• Adhere to any Store Support Center program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.
• Participate in store and Cashier meetings.

Front End Appearance and Upkeep:

• Keep the front end, always including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean. Face and dust front end.
• Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.
• Ensure fresh ads are always stocked in shopping carts.
• Ensure forms and supplies are always stocked.
• Assist with decorating the front end according to the Store Support Center program.
• Call for cart pickups when necessary.
• Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Other Essential Requirements:

• Education/Training: High School or GED equivalent.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Always maintain a professional appearance.
• Ability to learn about products.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Good math skills.
• Comfortable with handling cash and giving change.
• Able to maintain a positive and professional attitude toward customers.
• At least 12 months basic computer experience.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a cashier/customer service.

Physical Demands:

• Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.

Wage:

$11-$12.50
