Public Works Grounds Maintenance Worker – Town of Palm Beach, FL

Spur, a digital staffing agency , is seeking hard-working and dependable Grounds Maintenance Workers for the Town of Palm Beach . This role involves outdoor labor , maintaining public spaces, and ensuring the upkeep of parks, recreation areas, and municipal properties . While working under the supervision of an appointed supervisor , you will be expected to exercise independent judgment and take initiative in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive public spaces.

Position Overview

This position requires physical labor in an outdoor environment that includes exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and noisy machinery with moving parts . Candidates must be comfortable wearing and utilizing proper safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

Key Responsibilities

• Landscaping & Groundskeeping:
  • Planting, watering, fertilizing, and cultivating plants.
  • Mowing grass, trimming fence lines, and maintaining drainage ditches.
  • Collecting litter and debris to maintain clean public areas.
  • Applying pesticides under supervision.
  • Cleaning, weeding, mulching, and pruning flower beds and shrubbery.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
  • Operating power tools such as chainsaws, edgers, weed eaters, and mowers.
  • Utilizing heavy equipment like backhoes and field painters.
  • Reporting necessary repairs and maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Facility Upkeep & Repairs:
  • Cleaning and painting concession stands, fieldhouses, and recreation facilities.
  • Repairing windows, doors, plumbing, and other fixtures.
  • Performing general manual labor, including leveling dirt in infields and baselines.
• Inventory & Safety Compliance:
  • Managing equipment and supply inventory for Parks and Recreation areas.
  • Following safety protocols and reporting potential hazards or issues to supervisors.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in maintenance and groundskeeping.
• Basic painting and facility repair skills.
• Ability to lift at least 100 pounds and perform strenuous manual labor.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
