We are seeking a Sr Archaeologist to join our team in Tampa, FL.

About Us

AtkinsRéalis is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization. For over 50 years, we've partnered with public and private clients across the U.S. to deliver infrastructure planning, engineering, construction, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture, and program management. Our depth and breadth of expertise enables us to tackle the most technically complex and time-sensitive projects-driving innovation, resilience, and real-world impact where it matters most.

How will you contribute to the team?
  • Serve as Principal Investigator on transportation, planning, and infrastructure projects: plan and lead fieldwork, including survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to ensure delivery of high-quality Cultural Resources services to clients, while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality.
  • Assist in development of proposals, including preparation of scope and fee documents, to ensure client satisfaction and profitability of projects.
  • Evaluate sites for eligibility in the National Register of Historic Places, in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other relevant environmental laws.
  • Assess effects to sites, including working with engineering and planning professionals and the overall project team to avoid or minimize impacts in accordance with Section 106.
  • Write technical reports including Cultural Resource Assessment Surveys (CRAS), including creating site forms.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies and tribal governments.
  • Assist the larger Cultural Resources group with various desktop-based project and other tasks, as needed.
  • Review reports as part of AtkinsRéalis' detailed Quality Assurance/Quality Control program.
  • Must be prepared to spend time (up to 20%) in the field and travel to project sites, with some overnight visits required. Projects will generally be in Florida but could be elsewhere throughout the United States, as needed.
  • Adhere to AtkinsRéalis safety standards and maintain a culture of safety throughout field teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and potentially develop into a managerial role.
What will you contribute?
  • Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field. Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's (SOI) Standards.
  • 5-10 years of full-time professional archaeology experience, including conducting field surveys and experience with the identification and evaluation of historic and/or precontact period sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and carry projects to completion.
  • General understanding of the following industries: transportation, infrastructure, state and local governments, and/or regulatory/compliance.
  • Intermediate-level ArcGIS experience is required.
  • Familiarity with reading transportation engineering design plans is desired.
  • Prior Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) experience is highly desired.
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent written, technical, and interpersonal skills. A writing sample will be required as part of the application process.
  • Position may require use of company vehicle. Incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
  • All applicants must pass a drug screen and background check.
