Manager, Tax Accounting

Florida Crystals is a leading domestic sugar producer and North America’s first fully integrated cane sugar company, guiding our sugar from farm to table. We are America’s first and only producer of certified organic sugar, grown and harvested in the United States. Our renewable energy facility is the largest of its kind in North America and provides clean energy that powers our sugar operations, which helps us reduce our use of fossil fuels. Florida Crystals also sustainably farms rice, sweet corn and other vegetables in rotation with our sugarcane. Our rice mill is the only rice mill in Florida.

OVERVIEW

The Tax Manager will prepare various corporate federal and state income tax returns, estimates, extensions and tax provisions for various entities. The Tax Manager will also assist with tax research, tax audits, and indirect tax issues (i.e., sales and property taxes).

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare various corporate federal and state income tax returns using CORPTAX software
• Maximize use of technology to most efficiently complete corporate tax compliance function
• Perform tax research on numerous diverse tax issues (e.g. Internal Revenue Code analysis, state income tax issues, sales tax, international tax issues, manufacturing accounting methods, etc.)
• Assist with various corporate income tax provisions
• Prepare responses to IRS information requests regarding accounting/tax treatment of items on prior year returns
• Staying up-to-date on tax laws and tax compliance changes impacting the company
• Tax planning projects and other tax-related initiatives
• Strong working rapport w/ tax and accounting team
• Prioritizing and time management
• Strong collaboration skills
• Accountability skills to take ownership
• Fixed asset management in SAGE System preferred
• Preparation of tangible property tax returns

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in corporate income taxation (either large public or private corporation, public accounting tax department, or combination thereof)
• Strong skills in utilizing tax technology, especially corporate income tax preparation software (Corptax experience preferred).
• Strong tax research skills including writing, business analysis, and communication skills
• Experience with corporate federal and state income tax preparation and corporate tax provisions.
• Knowledge of SAP preferred
• Advanced MS Excel skills

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• MS in accounting/tax is preferred. CPA preferred
