Education Coach
- $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay; health, dental, and vision benefits effective day one
- On-campus position at an Alpha K-8 school in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)
- Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts addressing public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other enduring competencies, modifying the existing framework and creating new sessions when you identify unmet needs
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation sessions designed to drive every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot analytics, Alpha's incentive structures (school currency, leaderboards), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome reluctance
- Administering Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery assessment) for each life skill and continuing to coach students who do not achieve passing until mastery is reached
- Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
- Analyzing weekly cohort performance metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and modifying your coaching tactics for the next week based on data insights
- Delivering whiteboard lectures; academic content is housed in the applications, not delivered by you
- Creating an entire curriculum without foundation; you begin with an established playbook and infuse it with your own presence and narrative style
- Passively monitoring children at computers; motivation in this environment is proactive, individualized, and persistent
- Working through bureaucratic processes to secure resources for students in need; when a student requires additional coaching time, you decide and implement immediately
- Evaluating homework, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent communications; Campus Leads manage parent interactions, and the other activities do not exist in this model
- Able to work on-site at an Alpha campus located in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Portland, OR; or Seattle, WA (relocation assistance available)
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- Minimum of 3 years of direct work with K-8 students (including classroom instruction, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program management)
- A concrete example you can articulate of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal: the objective, your actions, and the result
- Comfort with AI managing instructional delivery while you concentrate on motivation and life-skills development
- Authorization to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship
- Background in youth sports coaching, debate programs, camp leadership, theater, or after-school initiatives where you held direct responsibility for motivating children toward defined objectives
- Demonstrated record of high personal achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), indicating that maintaining elevated standards for others reflects your consistent approach rather than an adopted stance
- Communication and presence skills sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour without needing to raise your voice
- History of converting disengaged or reluctant students into engaged contributors
This is not a teaching role. Your work is motivation.
The most meaningful way to support a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that standard feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it resonates because maintaining high expectations is how you demonstrate belief in a student's capacity, continue reading.
Alpha students complete their academic learning through AI-driven applications. There are no lectures or textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops covering topics like public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback. Roughly 30% involves working with students individually or in small groups, examining their progress via Coachbot analytics, and guiding each toward their weekly application targets. The remaining 10% is dedicated to data analysis that informs your coaching strategy for the week ahead. You will not follow rigid scripts; workshops serve as frameworks, and top performers in this position customize them and create new content when needed.
Success in a semester means that at least 90% of students in your cohort achieve their weekly app targets, demonstrate quantifiable life-skill improvement on Test2Pass, and provide a rating of 4/5 or higher for their experience with you. Falling short on any of these three metrics means the role has not been fulfilled. When you consistently uphold these standards, advancement opportunities emerge to Lead Guide — mentoring newer Guides while continuing to manage a cohort — and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement.
If you prefer conventional teaching, expect ready-made curricula, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position will not suit you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performance work that commanded the attention of 12-year-olds, the final stage before an offer is a full on-campus day coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today.
