About the Role

Position Summary

The Process Optimization Engineer will support production operations by troubleshooting process irregularities, implementing improvements in existing processes, installing & supporting new technologies, evaluating cost effective alternatives using new technologies, and provide engineering support to remain regulatory compliant. Work with (and provide back-up support to) the Process Control Systems Analyst to maintain the highest level of security and ease of operability of plant equipment. Develop, manage, and implement technical capital projects via team oriented atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support production units by actively analyzing existing systems and implementing cost effective process improvements.
• Manage capital projects from initial concept idea to final implementation phase and provide technical expertise as a member of assigned Capital Project teams.
• Support Compliance & Regulatory Manager by performing calculations, maintaining proper documentation and initiating projects aimed at remaining compliant with all the various government agencies applicable to our industry. This includes but is not limited to: HAZOP’s, Validation etc.
• Provide back-up support and technical expertise to the Process Control Systems Analyst (otherwise referred to as programmers). Work very closely with the site programming group to ensure that all production areas are programmed in a manner that is easily Validated and provides ease of operation to the most junior operator.
• Support maintenance activities by actively providing input to resolve the root cause of equipment failures and research alternative solutions to prevent future failures.
• Other duties as assigned.

About You

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in Process Engineering. Internships and Coops are acceptable. Experience within fragrance production, chemical industry, or oil industry is an advantage.
• Knowledge of specialty chemical processes and/or oil industry processes.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written along with good interpersonal skills are essential to interact with other departments and colleagues.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform equipment servicing.
• Ability to evaluate problems and provide solutions through logical systematic diagnosis, determine root cause, and decide on appropriate resolutions.
• Ability to provide creative and innovative solutions to the wide variety of problems that may arise with equipment, systems, or personnel.
• Must be self-motivated to achieve results while working alone as well as actively participating as a member of a work team.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Experience with engineering and/or chemical process software and other related tools is desired (ie. Aspen Tech, ChemCAD, DeltaV, Siemens, etc.).
• Experience with project management, Lean and/or Six Sigma is an advantage.
