Director of Finance

Job Summary
The Director of Finance serves as the hotel's strategic financial leader and a key member of the executive committee. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, safeguarding assets, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing financial insights that drive profitability and operational efficiency. The Director partners closely with the General Manager, department heads, ownership, and corporate finance teams to support business decisions, maximize RevPAR and GOP, and achieve financial targets in a dynamic hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash management, banking relationships, credit, purchasing, and inventory control.
- Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports (monthly Pamp;L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, forecasts, variance analyses, and ownership/corporate reports) to support informed decision-making.
- Develop, lead, and oversee the annual operating budget, capital expenditure budget, monthly forecasts, and long-term financial plans in collaboration with the executive team.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, hotel brand standards, ownership agreements, and internal control policies (e.g., SOX principles where applicable).
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to protect hotel assets, minimize risk, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate financial records.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to optimize revenue streams, control costs, improve profitability, and support pricing, marketing, and operational strategies.
- Manage the finance team: recruit, train, mentor, schedule, and evaluate staff to foster a high-performing department.
- Coordinate audits (internal, external, tax) and work with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks as needed.
- Monitor cash flow, oversee treasury functions, manage working capital, and maintain positive relationships with lenders and vendors.
- Support capital projects and renovations by providing financial modeling, ROI analysis, and funding coordination.
- Champion financial literacy across departments by delivering training and insights to non-finance leaders.
- Stay current on hospitality industry trends, accounting standards (GAAP), and best practices in hotel finance.
Qualifications amp; Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master's degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPA, CMA, CHAE) strongly preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5–8 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior hotel finance role (e.g., Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, or Controller in hospitality).
- Proven track record in full-service, luxury, resort, or convention hotel environments preferred.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (e.g., Opera, OnQ, Fidelio) and accounting software (e.g., Hyperion, Essbase, M3, or similar); knowledge of STR reports and hospitality metrics a plus.

- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- Knowledge of hospitality industry benchmarks, cost controls, revenue management principles, and union environments (where applicable).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment with fluctuating occupancy and seasonal demands.
Compensation amp; Benefits
- $70,000 part time 20-25 hours a week .
