Job Summary

The Graphic Designer at RailPros is an important role responsible for design and development of a broad array of training and media products. In this role, the Graphic Designer will create design solutions for various learning and communication products in a variety of mediums, including print, video, and animation. Types of deliverables may include, but are not limited to, presentation decks; page layouts for workbooks, exams and other course materials; informational brochures and flyers; logo and icon design; graphics packages for videos; multimedia explainer videos; UI design samples for eLearning and marketing and promotional media. This person ensures that layout and design are aligned with the RailPros brand and production standards and follow best practices.

The person in this role is expected to work in support of other Training Development & Media Services team members, SMEs, clients and other stakeholders, to conceptualize and deliver visual components on time and within budget. This person must be experienced using a variety of design and editing tools and software such as those found in Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, etc. Knowledge of color, composition, typography, and digital design are important. The Graphic Designer is expected to perform a wide variety of tasks with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Attend and actively participate in project development/ brainstorm meetings
• Create custom graphics for instructional applications and communication pieces in liaison with Producer/ Project Managers, Instructional Designers, writers, SMEs, clients, and other professionals
• Build, deliver and revise designs and products, including:
  • Presentation slides
  • Classroom materials - Student Workbooks, Instructor Guides and Exams
  • Logos and icons
  • Graphics for videos and animations
  • Photos
  • Brochures
  • Storyboards/ Templates/ Mood boards
• Create design elements for use in:
  • eLearning courses
  • Instructor-led classes
  • Student Workbooks
  • Instructor Guidebooks
  • Marketing materials
  • Corporate communication pieces such as flyers, emails, promotional materials, surveys, etc.
• Make technical recommendations regarding best approach for creating visual materials/ media
• Contribute to project plan, project schedule and milestone dates
• Manage work through the project lifecycle
• Oversee graphic design development on multiple projects, including resource management and oversight
• Review materials/ Quality check deliverables
• Deliver and archive completed projects according to SOP
• Keep up-to-date with technological and software developments
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Exceptional graphic design skills
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications and other necessary software tools
• Proficient in presentation software including PowerPoint
• Knowledge of print production and preparing files for hard copy and digital production, including a working knowledge of CMYK and RGB color spaces
• Knowledge of different creative approaches, including how and when they apply to different platforms
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage your time effectively across multiple projects
• Ability to work creatively, within style guidelines and consistent with a professional services audience
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic communications including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
• Experience in producing and editing video and audio is viewed favorably
• Experience in illustration and animation is viewed favorably

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in design or related field - or - equivalent work experience in one of these areas.
• 3+ years' professional experience in graphic design or multimedia
• Proficient with Media Design software and tools
