NSC is currently Hiring COMBO WELDER (Steel & Aluminum) for Local ONLY in Ft Lauderdale

Position: Welder/Fabricator The Welder/Fabricator/Pipefitter will Provide marine welding, fabrication, and mechanical support to projects as assigned by supervision. This person will also assist in developing the company’s welding department and maintaining welding equipment in support of the company’s efforts to strengthen service offerings to clients. Employee will also handle welding in job scopes as the department evolves. Must be willing to do mechanical work when assigned. Job Related Competencies Mechanical Aptitude OSHA Safety Regulations Attention to Detail Communication Skills Customer Service Orientation Problem Solving Skills Essential Job Functions • Demonstrated knowledge of fitting, burning, and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating, distortion, expansion, or shrink of spare parts. • Plans properly and arranges parts to be welded in order: lay out, position, align and secure parts and assembles prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. • Ability to read, interpret, understand and apply drawings and blueprints to jobs at hand. • Welding spare parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead, etc. • Clamping, holding, tack–welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final project. • Maintains an inventory of welding equipment and develops a maintenance schedule report monthly. • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. • Assist in preparing labor budgets/estimates, developing timelines and material requests for projects. • Operating other accessory equipment and performing tasks necessary for welding metal such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored, plasma arc, and other types of arc. • Examines finished products and determines specs were met. • Prepares and sets up area of necessary tools and equipment for the job. Cleans up the area after the job has been completed. • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed. Nonessential Job Functions • Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • Required 3 years’ experience in welding with certifications: aluminum, steel metals, MiG, and TIG. • Clean driving record. • Can push, pull, and lift 50 lbs. Must be able to work in tight, confined, and hot spaces. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Have experience in working with client companies and be able to apply knowledge to the company’s marine, industrial, and manufacturing clientele. • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance as well as analytic reasoning. • Maintain a professional, well-kept, clean-shaven appearance. • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (passport required). • Able to perform general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, and moving whole body, in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. • Handling and moving objects through the use of hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating parts, tools, etc. • Must possess sufficient Trunk Strength: The ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time safely. • Must have Extent Flexibility: The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs. • Must have Manual Dexterity: The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. • Must have Static Strength: The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. • Must have Oral Comprehension: The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Must be fluent in English written and orally. • Near Vision: The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). • Must have an understanding of structural basics, including rigging, welding, erection and reinforcements. • Must possess strong problem-solving skills. Flexible and able to adapt to our dynamic environment. Ability to remain calm under pressure. • Must be able to operate and work in a safe manner. Safety is #1. Computer Skills • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Applications. Licenses/Certificates • Required 3 years of experience in welding with certifications: in aluminum, steel metals, MiG, and TIG. • Legally eligible to work in the United States. • Requires a valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving record.
