Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Dayton, OH 45459 (Ohio nursing jobs)
• Unit: Medical Surgical Patient Care Unit 1 (24 beds)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 8/11/2025 – End: 11/10/2025)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Floating: May float to Miami Valley Main Hospital (within 10 miles)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1750 - $1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state; compact nursing license accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting
• BLS certification through AHA (required for all healthcare jobs)
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must complete lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam within 72 hours of contract signing
• Availability for every other weekend and holiday shifts
• Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients on a 24-bed medical-surgical unit, including post-operative GI and urology patients
• Perform and manage continuous bladder irrigation, NG and G-tube care
• Conduct patient assessments, medication administration, and documentation using EPIC EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Operate special equipment such as Sara Stedy and Golvo lifts
• Float to other units or nearby healthcare facilities as needed
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment for adult and geriatric patients
• Comply with hospital policies, timely completion of required exams, and adherence to scheduling guidelines
