Preconstruction Manager / Estimator

Job Summary

A leading commercial General Contractor is hiring Preconstruction Managers / Estimators for full-time, direct hire opportunities in Orlando, FL and Doral, FL. These hands-on roles support large-scale commercial construction projects from early conceptual budgeting through final construction documents, bid coordination, and owner presentations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead estimates from conceptual design through schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
- Prepare detailed pricing across all commercial construction trades and divisions.
- Manage bid processes, subcontractor coverage, proposal reviews, RFIs, and scope coordination.
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, design teams, and internal project teams during preconstruction.
- Provide value engineering, cost-saving recommendations, logistics input, and pricing strategy.
- Manage multiple pursuits simultaneously while developing and maintaining strong subcontractor relationships.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $100,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Job type: Direct hire, full-time.
- Work arrangement: Fully in office. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Lead preconstruction estimating for commercial General Contractor projects.
- Manage pricing, bid coordination, subcontractor proposals, and owner/design team communication.
- Support negotiated, GMP, design-build, design-assist, and hard-bid delivery methods.
- Contribute to industrial, tilt-wall, assisted living, multifamily, and other large commercial construction pursuits.

- Commercial General Contractor experience is required.
- Strong estimating and preconstruction experience across all trades and divisions.
- 2 to 5 years of experience for Preconstruction Manager / Estimator roles, or 10+ years of experience for Lead Preconstruction Manager / Estimator roles.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, documents, scopes, and pricing.
- Experience with conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates.
- Established subcontractor relationships in Central Florida or South Florida markets.
- Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, priorities, and stakeholder communications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Stable employment history and strong professional references are preferred by the hiring team.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with industrial and tilt-wall construction in the Central Florida market.
- Experience with large industrial, assisted living, and mid-rise multifamily projects in South Florida.
- Existing relationships with local subcontractors throughout Central Florida or South Florida.
- Senior-level experience leading the full preconstruction process from pursuit through handoff.
- Proven ability to mentor junior estimators and support estimating team development.
