WORKING TITLE : OPS Criminal Justice Information Analyst

This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located in the Office of Institutions, Bureau of Intelligence & Analytical Support, in Central Office located in Tallahassee, FL.

The mission of the Office of Institutions, Bureau of Intelligence & Analytical Support in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to enhance the safety and security of correctional institutions through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence information.

This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Process Public Records and Subpoenas: Review and process public records requests and subpoenas for evidence in a timely and confidential manner, ensuring compliance with agency procedures.
  • Analyze Criminal Activity: Evaluate incident reports and databases to identify patterns in criminal activity, delivering relevant information to the Chief of Intelligence/STIU Supervisor.
  • Utilize Advanced Software: Use software applications like ArcGIS and Microsoft Office Suite to research, analyze, and present criminal and intelligence data, identifying individuals, contraband flow, and crime sequences.
  • Support Tactical Cases: Provide tactical case support by developing suspect leads, locating addresses and associates, and identifying victims, aiding in the efficient deployment of department resources.
  • Produce Reports and Bulletins: Create periodic reports and bulletins that highlight crime patterns, trends, and offender risk levels, ensuring accurate and professional communication both written and verbally.

BENEFITS:

OPS employees who work an average of 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in state group insurance plans. Standard PPO/HMO Options include:

    • Employee Only: $25 biweekly
    • Spouse Program: $15 biweekly
    • Employee & Family: $90 biweekly.
  • Dental - FDC offers five separate dental plans with multiple options and rates for each plan type with monthly premiums as low as $12.64.
  • Vision - FDC offers one single vision plan through Humana with monthly premiums as low as $5.92.
  • Life - FDC offers a $25,000 group term life insurance plan to eligible OPS staff through Securian at the low monthly premium of $3.78. When enrolled in basic life, employees may also elect child life and spouse life insurance plans.
  • Retirement - As an OPS employee, the Florida FICA Alternative Plan with Corebridge Financial affords you an excellent opportunity to help accumulate money for a secure retirement. You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ direct experience with collecting and analyzing data then producing related reports.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
