Senior Accountant (Or Staff Accountant, based on experience)

Job Summary:

Senior Management Advisors is seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the accounting processes for multiple entities by maintaining the general ledger, reconciling account balances, performing month-end close procedures and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update the general ledger by posting bank transactions, journal entries and ensuring the overall accuracy of financial data
• Review and approve all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions prior to them being posted to the general ledger
• Reconcile account balances, including bank statements, balance sheet accounts, intercompany transactions and other general ledger accounts
• Full ownership of the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing adjusting entries, accruals and reviewing financial data for accuracy
• Preparation and analysis of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements of multiple entities
• Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and explain significant variances from budgeted and/or trended amounts
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation of financial transactions and procedures
• Prepare annual budgets and other financial reporting requirements as well as assisting with audits
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies and procedures and deadlines

Other Potential Expectations:

· Provide training to new hires and other staff as needed

· Assist other staff with reconciling/problem solving as needed

· All key responsibilities listed above for other types of entities in addition to assigned communities

· Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Controller or Director of Finance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of experience (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members and departments
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
