Registered Nurse / Emergency Department
A full-time Registered Nurse opportunity is available at a 288-bed acute-care hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, supporting a Free Standing Emergency Department within a larger 24/7 emergency services network. This facility provides comprehensive specialty care, including a Chest Pain Center with PCI-Resuscitation, Stroke Center, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Behavioral Health Center. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-impact emergency care across a wide range of patient presentations.
The Free Standing Emergency Department RN is responsible for triaging, assessing, and treating patients of all ages presenting with conditions ranging from minor injuries to critical, life-threatening emergencies. This role requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously while prioritizing care based on acuity. The nurse develops individualized care plans, coordinates treatment with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and ensures safe discharge planning through education, follow-up instructions, and appropriate referrals. The position requires a calm, focused approach in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Responsibilities:
Triage, assess, and provide emergency care for patients of all ages.
Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on clinical assessment.
Prioritize multiple patients based on acuity and evolving clinical needs.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders.
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
Provide discharge instructions, education, and follow-up care guidance.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care.
Support patient safety and quality care standards in a fast-paced ED environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum of one year of recent acute care Emergency Room RN experience required; critical care experience may be considered.
Active Florida Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure prior to start required.
Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to start.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required within 90 days of hire.
Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and emergency care skills.
Schedule:
Full-time
