Managing Counsel- Merchant Solutions

What does a successful Counsel do? As a Counsel at Fiserv, you will initially support digital wallets and disbursement and payout solutions within the Merchant Solutions division of Fiserv. Your role will focus on drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic bank partners and merchants. You will also provide regulatory advice on laws and rules impacting our merchant business, including BSA/AML, money transmission, and Nacha. Collaboration with senior business and sales executives will be crucial for success in this role.

What you will do:

• Work directly with business unit representatives to prepare and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Advise business partners on legal, contractual, and risk matters impacting their business unit or product set.
• Partner with product teams to commercialize new products and functionality.
• Provide consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, and dispute resolution.
• Effectively interact with corporate specialists regarding credit, risk, compliance, finance, audit, tax, regulatory, privacy, and technology matters that impact the Merchant Solutions division.
• Develop and maintain forms of contracts and other legal documentation.

What you will need to have:

• JD from an accredited law school, and licensed to practice, with the ability to become licensed as in-house counsel to practice in the applicable state.
• In good standing with the State Bar with no disciplinary record.
• 5+ years of experience in providing regulatory advice on laws and rules relating to merchant businesses.
• Experience as a transactional lawyer.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.

What would be great to have:

• 6+ years of experience interacting with senior management.
• Experience navigating data use and privacy matters.
• Experience in technical contract negotiation.
• Exposure to financial services and technology contracts.
• Knowledge of financial services laws and network requirements (e.g., Reg E, BSA/AML, money transmission, Nacha rules, etc.).

• This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and lead to stronger productivity.

• This is a full-time, direct-hire position, and no contract options for unsolicited agency submissions will be considered.

Salary Range

$155,000.00 - $258,000.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey, New York and California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
