School Nurse
Serves as the School Nurse on a part-time basis, providing direct healthcare services to students and staff to support a safe and healthy school environment. This position follows the regular school calendar and offers flexible hours, requiring a minimum of 3–4 hours per week on campus. Responsible for assessing and addressing student health needs, administering basic medical care, and responding to emergencies in accordance with school policies, state laws, and administrative regulations. Maintains, monitors, and updates all student health records, ensuring compliance with state immunization requirements. Promotes health awareness by providing relevant information to students, parents, and staff, and collaborates with school administration and faculty to support overall student wellness.
Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in office administration or business-related field or certification from a business college, including course work in data entry, word processing/computer literacy.
- Appropriate successful work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements. (Two) or more years applicable experience in field is needed to gain the skills and knowledge required to perform job duties
- Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the Florida Conference and the Seventh day Adventist Church.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) in English with vendors, co workers, visitors and management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required. Knowledge and proven skills in (office procedures and equipment such as computer software (e.g., WordPerfect or Word for Windows; Excel spreadsheets), data entry, filing, telephone techniques, and English usage (spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.).
- Ability to perform basic computer tasks with high accuracy and acceptable speed.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform all job duties with minimum supervision; ability to work under pressure and with many interruptions.
- Ability to foster communication among departmental staff, employees from other departments and outside personnel.
Job Responsibilities:
- Hours: 8:00-4:00 Monday-Thursday, 8:00-1:00 Friday – Lunch break 11:00-12:00
- Email sick list to all faculty and staff by 8:00-8:10am
- Email sick list to all faculty and staff by 1:00-1:05pm
- Check and retrieve all current student Consent for Treatment forms by Thursday of the first week of school.
- Verify that all current student physical and immunization information is in our possession by the first nine weeks)
- Check and supply all first aid stations and vehicles on campus (including field)
- Check with the Athletic Director and Chair of the PE Department to inspect and supply all first aid bags for all sport teams/trips
- Have Consent for Treatment form and accident forms, etc. ready for any trips
- Provide and coordinate (pre-week) CPR, first aid, and defibulator training for all faculty, staff, coaches, and In-service of Blood borne pathogens
- Verify that any new student(s) that comes has the proper medical information (physical, immunization, Consent for Treatment form) within three weeks of arrival
- Provide a list of any special medical conditions to the faculty, staff, and coaches by the end of the first nine weeks, and make a report in Faculty Meeting
- Be the contact person and deal with any claims or problems for any student accident claims
- Make sure faculty and staff understand any injury incurred by any employee (adult or student) during work is considered Workman’s Comp. The worker must report to the Business Manager. Do not go to the doctor until incident or problem is reported to the Business Manager.
