- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another engineering discipline with sufficient related experience
- At least 10 years of related Project Engineering experience within industrial manufacturing
- If holding a degree other than Chemical Engineering, must demonstrate training or sufficient experience in:
- Organic chemistry
- Chemical/petroleum unit operations
- Design of equipment for chemical reactions and distillations
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in capital project management
- Experience in process engineering, production engineering, and leadership roles
- Experience with process control, instrumentation, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Previous manufacturing experience (internship, co-op, or full-time)
- Experience with silicon and siloxane chemistry
- Experience working at a site subject to OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements
- Demonstrated mastery of reading and interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, and loop sheets
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of process simulation software, including ASPEN, Chem CAD, and other relevant specialty software
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of legal requirements and industry practices related to engineering projects
- Lead the implementation of large, multidisciplinary capital projects from conception through design, construction, and startup
- Lead teams of associates and third-party resources on larger projects
- Utilize the Milliken FEL process during early design and estimation phases to support resource allocation and business decision-making
- Develop project scope, PFDs, P&IDs, cost estimates, equipment specifications, and procurement plans
- Secure project funding and coordinate equipment procurement, contractors, cost tracking, cost control, and startup activities
- Plan and manage resources to maintain project schedules and implement contingency plans when necessary
- Make decisions that support overall program objectives rather than individual project components
- Communicate effectively with project teams, stakeholders, contractors, and leadership
- Identify schedule, cost, and scope risks and develop mitigation plans to reduce potential impacts
- Manage project scope, including addressing errors and omissions discovered during implementation
- Evaluate project viability by identifying critical factors, analyzing complex problems, and defining required information
- Develop creative engineering solutions that improve functionality, reduce costs, shorten implementation timelines, and minimize risk
- Manage outsourced design activities to ensure cost-effective, technically sound solutions that achieve project objectives
- Apply legal requirements and industry best practices throughout project execution
- Utilize vendors, equipment manufacturers, and peer resources to resolve engineering issues efficiently and cost-effectively
- Serve as the engineering resource for designated plant equipment systems
- Promote quality-focused project implementation through the use of reliable, low-maintenance, long-life components and simplified operating designs
- Adhere to, model, and coach others on plant safety policies and compliance regulations
- Participate in safety audits, safety projects, hazard identification, safety improvement initiatives, and safety teams
- Complete required annual safety training
- Ensure contractor compliance with applicable safety requirements and active participation in safety programs
- Improve the safety and regulatory compliance of chemical processes and equipment systems
- Participate in Management of Change evaluations, Process Hazard Analyses, and Process Review Committee evaluations
- Mentor junior engineers on smaller and less complex projects
- Assist plant operations with engineering-related issues
