This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Legal Services.
As a member of the Legal Services team at the Florida Department of Corrections, our mission is to provide comprehensive legal support and guidance to ensure that our operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Master Case Management: Create and maintain detailed case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is included. Use all available resources to pull and organize files efficiently.
- Tech-Savvy File Preparation: Prepare files for imaging by operating scanning and reproduction equipment for easy duplication, storage, and retrieval of records.
- Database Dynamo: Update activity and status in all necessary databases to meet deadlines and performance standards. Handle high-volume data entry with precision and speed.
- Mail Maestro: Review and triage all incoming mail (both electronic and hard copy) promptly. Update databases, distribute or process mail accurately, and keep a record of all hard copy mail received.
- Legal Document Specialist: Prepare standard legal documents for attorney signatures, such as complaints, petitions, and motions. Draft general correspondence for attorney review and perform various office administration tasks like filing, scanning, and delivering documents. Handle multi-line phone calls and provide backup support as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) years of secretarial or clerical work experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year for year basis for the required experience.
- Experience scheduling and/or calendaring for an attorney.
- Experience processing electronic and hard copy mail that is received.
- Experience answering and routing telephone calls using a multi-line phone.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experiencing drafting legal documents.
- Involved in a discovery project with an attorney.
- Experience redacting documents.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
