Fuel Analyst
Jacksonville, FL | On-Site ARC Group is seeking a Fuel Analyst for a Fortune 500 company located near the Southside of Jacksonville, FL. This is an exciting project-based opportunity with the potential for extension or permanent placement. The role is on-site at the client’s office and offers the chance to contribute to strategic fuel procurement and supplier management in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Position Overview:
The Fuel Analyst is responsible for strategic fuel procurement, supplier management, and market analysis to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance. Acting as a subject matter expert, this role supports category management objectives, strategic sourcing initiatives, and the full procurement lifecycle, from requirements development to contract completion and transition. Due to maritime operations, this role requires 24/7 availability to maintain an uninterrupted fuel supply.
Key Responsibilities:
Fuel Procurement & Negotiation: Source and negotiate fuel pricing (spot market and contracts) to optimize costs while maintaining compliance and quality standards. Monitor fuel markets, port dynamics, product availability, and specifications.
Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Assess supplier performance and risk.
Market Analysis: Track global fuel market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks. Support development of fuel-related KPIs.
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with business units to align fuel requirements and deliveries. Provide expert advice on fuel solutions to support operational needs.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all fuel purchases comply with maritime and environmental regulations.
Claims Management: Resolve fuel quality and quantity claims promptly and efficiently.
Risk Management: Identify potential procurement risks and implement mitigation measures.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of transactions, contracts, and invoices. Support financial reporting related to fuel procurement.
Operational Support: Monitor and respond to urgent fuel needs, ensuring continuous business support.
Lubricant Procurement Support: Provide backup support for lubricant procurement as needed.
Required Skills:
Strong negotiation and market analysis skills.
Knowledge of contract terms and ability to review/negotiation agreements.
Understanding of international maritime fuel regulations and bunker fuel specifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship management skills.
Project management capability with the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field with 5–8 years of strategic sourcing and supplier management experience, or a combination of post-secondary education and equivalent experience totaling 9 years.
