Senior Accounting and Audit Professional

Role Overview

Apply senior-level accounting and audit judgment to improve how advanced AI models handle real-world accounting and audit work. You will work closely with an AI research and program management team, defining high-quality tasks, correct solutions, and evaluation standards grounded in professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Review accounting and audit knowledge-work tasks and model outputs, identifying missing behaviors, weak reasoning, misapplied standards, unsupported accounting treatments, and responses that would not withstand reviewing-partner scrutiny.
• Write detailed instruction specifications and golden solutions for accounting and audit problems.
• Create new tasks that reflect how accounting and audit work is performed in practice.
• Design challenging evaluation sets and benchmarks to measure model improvement.
• Help develop domain-specific skills and tools with the research team.
• Collaborate with researchers and adjacent-domain specialists to calibrate consistent standards and turn implicit professional judgment into explicit, teachable criteria.

Qualifications

• Active professional credential such as CPA, CA, CIA, CFE, or CMA, plus a bachelor''s or master''s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
• At least 4 years of substantive accounting or audit experience at a recognized public accounting firm, corporate controllership or finance function, internal audit department, or regulator. Bookkeeping-only experience does not qualify.
• Specialization in at least one area: external audit and assurance; technical accounting and financial reporting under US GAAP or IFRS; internal audit and SOX controls; tax; forensic accounting and fraud examination; or revenue recognition.
• Demonstrated progression to a senior role such as Audit Manager, Senior Manager, Accounting Manager, Controller, Director of Accounting, or Partner, including ownership of engagements or reporting cycles.
• Practical experience using large language models in professional work and the judgment to distinguish sound reasoning from plausible but incorrect answers.
• Excellent written communication and the ability to deliver precise, well-structured feedback.

Work Terms

• Full-time W-2 employment through an employer of record, with placement on an AI lab''s extended workforce.
• 40 hours per week for an initial 6-month engagement.
• Hybrid role based in the Bay Area, California, with on-site work alongside the client team multiple days per week when required.
• This is not a remote role. Candidates must already live in the Bay Area or relocate there at their own expense before the engagement begins. Relocation assistance is not available.
• Client-issued accounts and equipment will be provided, and work will be performed in the client''s tools alongside its research teams.

Compensation

$60 to $100 per hour.
