INFORMATION AND REFERRAL AIDE
Nature of Work
This is routine clerical and/or field work. Work involves engaging homeless individuals on the streets and assisting the Information and Referral Specialist in helping the homeless identify and define their own service needs. An employee in this class is expected to carry out job instructions with minimal supervision.Essential Functions
Assists the Information and Referral Specialists or other staff members in engaging homeless clients throughout the streets of Miami while distributing information translating documents and gathering routine background data on clients. Assists the Information & Referral Specialists in coordinating and collaborating services with other City Departments, including, but not limited to: Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) Offices, the Miami Police Department, Solid Waste, as well as other outside agencies. Assists with developing a network of supportive service resources for referral of clients, continuing on-going research for additional sources, and maintaining on-going evaluation of the services provided. Identifies supportive service resources and makes referrals where appropriate. Assists in developing systems for documenting and reporting all activities and services provided for clients. Collects all necessary and required documentation from sub recipients and enters information into a database management system. Operates and maintains databases to track client's information. Maintains files of information gathered on the various governmental and social service agencies. Reviews the accuracy of documentation to meet the qualifying requirements of the specific programs. Operates mailing, photocopier, and other simple office machines. Performs simple posting work. Takes routine inventories of materials and supplies. Types and fills in forms or form letters with designated information and proofreads various typed and printed material. Places and receives telephone calls; routes calls to others. Serves as receptionist, answering routine inquires and directing calls to the proper person.Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year ofexperience in customer service. A Valid Driver's License from any state (Equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be utilized upon application however, prior to appointment, a State of Florida Driver's License (Class E or higher) must be presented to the Department of Human Resources and must be maintained valid throughout employment in the classification. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of the required experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Employees in this classification will be required to work various shifts, to include nights, holidays and weekends.Documentation Requirements

Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency*. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating degree completion must be submitted. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.

- To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: , transcript showing at least 60 college credits, Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree or higher in an unrelated field.
