IT Data Engineer - Local Candidates Only

As an IT Data Engineer at UAIC, you will help design and build modern, efficient, and scalable data integration processes across multiple systems. You’ll work on consolidating ETL pipelines into a unified technology stack and support downstream data analysis, reporting, and machine learning initiatives across departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from various sources such as SQL Server, CSV files, AS400/DB2 systems.
• Consolidate and modernize data workflows using Azure Data Factory and/or other cloud-native tools.
• Support the creation of a centralized data lake environment for enterprise-wide analytics.
• Automate and optimize data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to improve scalability, reliability, and transparency.
• Work with cross-functional teams to support data requirements for reporting and dashboard development using Tableau/Power BI
• Perform validation checks, exception handling, and monitoring for data integrity and process health.
• Maintain technical documentation for data flows, integration specs, and design patterns.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand data needs and support a broader analytics strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's is a plus.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data workflows.
• Proficiency with SQL Server and advanced SQL development.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar cloud data integration tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Redshift, or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS) and BI integration best practices.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a collaborative mindset.
• Familiarity with P&C insurance data is a plus but not required.
