Vaco is hiring for a Diesel Technician located in Jacksonville, FL. This is a direct hire opportunity. Shift Monday – Friday 2PM-10PM

We are seeking an experienced technician with strong diagnostic and repair capabilities who can independently service heavy-duty trucks and trailers.

Position Overview

The Diesel Technician will be responsible for company truck and trailer maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance. This individual should have the ability to diagnose and repair all classes of heavy-duty trucks and trailers, bumper to bumper, with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on company trucks and trailers
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related components
• Utilize diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues
• Perform component overhaul and repair across major engine manufacturers
• Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems
• Service and repair brakes and braking systems
• Diagnose and repair transmissions and drivelines
• Service hydraulic and power lift systems
• Troubleshoot and complete bumper-to-bumper repairs on heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment

Required Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and diagnostic tools
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and trailers
• Experience with electrical and electronic system diagnostics
• Knowledge of braking systems, transmissions, drivelines, hydraulics, and power lift systems
• Ability to independently diagnose and complete repairs
• Required technician tool set
• Class A, B, or C CDL required
• Ability to lift a minimum of 45 lbs.
• Strong communication skills
• Dependable and reliable

Preferred Qualifications

ASE and other relevant industry certifications are highly preferred.

ASE Master Technician certifications (T2–T8) are a plus:

• T2 – Diesel Engines
• T3 – Drive Train
• T4 – Brakes
• T5 – Suspension & Steering
• T6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
• T7 – Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
• T8 – Preventive Maintenance Inspection

Additional ASE certification:

• T1 – Gasoline Engines
