The World Equestrian Center – Ocala is seeking a versatile and highly skilled Cook I to join the culinary team at Genievieve’s; our elegant Italian dining concept located within the prestigious Equestrian Manor. This senior-level role is ideal for a culinary professional with broad expertise across multiple stations, a passion for Italian cuisine, and the adaptability to support dynamic kitchen operations.
As Cook I, you will serve as a flexible and knowledgeable team member capable of stepping into any station as needed, ensuring consistency, quality, and seamless execution. Your leadership and versatility will help uphold the World Equestrian Center’s core values of Quality, Class, and Distinction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute culinary responsibilities across multiple stations, including grill, sauté, fry, pantry, and prep, with precision and consistency.
- Step into various roles to support service flow, cover absences, and maintain operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef on menu execution, prep schedules, and event support.
- Monitor food quality, portioning, and presentation to ensure adherence to culinary standards.
- Train and mentor junior cooks across stations, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety across all workstations.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and proper storage of ingredients.
- Support private dining and special event execution with flexibility and professionalism.
- Uphold food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods during kitchen operations.
- Comfortable lifting and transporting kitchen equipment, food items, and supplies (up to 50 pounds).
- Clear and effective communication in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a professional kitchen, with demonstrated proficiency across multiple stations.
- Strong understanding of Italian Cuisine
- Strong understanding of Italian cuisine and classical cooking techniques.
- Exceptional knife skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.
- ServSafe Certification required.
- Leadership experience and ability to train and support team members.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Experience with private dining and event execution preferred
