Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Conservation Corps (FLCC) is a statewide AmeriCorps program housed within the Bureau of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Recreation and Parks. The program currently includes 7 staff and 65 AmeriCorps members serving across 31 state parks and regional district offices.
FLCC’s mission is to develop future leaders in natural and cultural resource management by engaging them in areas of critical need, including conservation, preservation, interpretation, and resource-based recreation. Members focus on invasive species management, recreational trail improvement and assessment, and volunteer recruitment and coordination. Additionally, FLCC members may be deployed across Florida and other states to support disaster response efforts.
This position plays a key role in supporting the FLCC AmeriCorps program by managing fiscal operations and contributing to overall program coordination. The Fiscal Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the program budget, processing monthly invoices and payroll, organizing disaster response logistics, and supporting day-to-day operations.
Please note: This position requires regular travel, approximately one week per month. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
This role is important to the agency’s support of the FLCC AmeriCorps program. Responsibilities for this position include:
INVOICING – Prepare and submit monthly grant-compliant invoices for reimbursement. Coordinate with the grantor and internal budget teams to resolve discrepancies or provide clarifications as needed.
ADMINSTRATION - Monitor and track program expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary limits and grant match requirements.
PURCHASING – Utilize MyFloridaMarketPlace (MFMP) and state contracts to procure goods and services. Obtain vendor quotes, create purchase orders, and manage gear purchases for the program.
TRAINING – Deliver training sessions for AmeriCorps members, including chainsaw safety, CPR/Basic First Aid, and other relevant topics.
DISASTER RESPONSE – Understand disaster response protocols and procedures. Be prepared to deploy with AmeriCorps teams to affected areas and provide logistical and operational support during deployments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
State budgeting processes and financial procedures
Computer operations and software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and other relevant tools
Disaster response protocols and safety procedures
Skill in:
Budget management and financial tracking
Clear and effective verbal and written communication
Utilizing virtual communication platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom)
Preparing accurate and timely reports
Conflict resolution and interpersonal communication
Ability to:
Speak confidently in both small and large group settings
Assist in planning and coordinating large-scale, week-long events (typically held in October, January, and July)
Follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail
Work independently with minimal supervision
Interpret and apply relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet travel requirements
Uphold professional standards and represent the program with integrity
Adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
