ASSISTANT VP ACCOUNTING

Overview: The position will be responsible for directing the preparation of the NAV, partner capital allocations and net asset values for funds currently managed by Bayview Asset Management. The position will be a key member of the finance and accounting department and will facilitate management in the daily operations of the funds in conjunction with our administrators. Responsibilities: - Manage the monthly accounting close process of Bayview Asset Management's various funds and coordinate with our Administrators in calculation of the month end net asset value and distribution of capital statements to investors.
- Review of fund governing documents and side letter agreements and implement controls to ensure proper application of governing documents.
- Review of balance sheet reconciliations of Cash, Portfolio holdings, in addition to other asset, liability and derivative accounts.
- Oversight and review of partner capital investment accounts, related party transactions, payables and management fees.
- Review of transaction documents for purchases, sales, financing and securitizations of investments.
- Work with the Administrator and Auditor in regard to audit testing inquiries.
- Work with the Administrator and Auditor in regard to audit confirmation processing for positions, cash and valuation.
- Oversee the monthly investor reporting package for investors along with the monthly compliance package for fund banking facilities. .
- Lead special projects and presentations, as required.
- Responsible for the accuracy of fund accounting, reporting, analysis and special projects, including developing a comprehensive understanding of products traded and processes utilized.
- Responsible for accuracy of NAV through month-end review of reconciliations, trading PNL and accruals.
- Communicate directly with third party administrators.
- Coordination with internal tax professionals.
- Various investor relations information requests.
- Managing and modifying accounting/financial systems, procedures, and processes, as necessary.
- Coordination with fund Investor Relations and Compliance departments with regard to communications with investors.
- Other Ad Hoc Reports as needed.
Qualifications: - Strong accounting and good tax knowledge. Prior private equity/hedge fund accounting experience, a plus.
- Ability to interpret and apply analysis to complex legal documents and financial transactions.
- Professional individual with strong written and oral communication skills and an energetic attitude to work within a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize several tasks at one time and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to interact directly with Senior Management.
- Strong analytical skills and strict attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Power Point.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- + 9 years in accounting or finance roles with increased responsibly
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience working in an accounting department performing accounting functions. Public accounting and/or private industry experience required
- Experience accounting for a multi strategy hedge fund or fund accounting experience in public accounting and Hedge Fund, Hedge Fund Administrator, Mutual Fund or other financial institution where the accountant has gained financial products experience is strongly preferred
- Stellar communication skills - Discussions with clients, custodians and prime brokers to resolve trading, operational and accounting issues Financial Statement Preparation and
- CPA license/Masters degree a plus.
- Strong Financial Reporting experience.
- Relevant audit or tax experience in the private equity/partnership area, a plus.
- Exceptional leadership skills
- Substantial knowledge and experience in the application of US GAAP and accounting policies and controls.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration
- CPA (a plus)
