We are growing and are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team!

The Staff Accountant position is a critical member of the financial and accounting team which works in coordination multiple departments to ensure the accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts and the timely posting of journal entries. The Accounting Department supports several affiliated entities having individual books and ledgers.

What will you be doing?

· Monthly bank reconciliations for multiple entities and multiple accounts. 

· Reconciliation and posting of accounts receivable.

· Reconciliation of accounts specific to the insurance industry such as paid losses and changes in loss reserves.

· Preparation of monthly spreadsheets to track written premium, fees and expenses.

· Preparation of analyses necessary to support filings such as premium taxes.

· Assist with analysis on project initiatives 

Requirements

Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
  • 3-5 Years of Accounting or Finance experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting.
  • Knowledge of STAT accounting is preferred but not required.
  • Strong excel skills including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills to effectively convey information both within and outside the organization.
  • Critical reasoning skills to objectively analyze information and identify errors that may impact the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Attention to detail when working with large data sets.
  • Organizational skills necessary to prioritize assignments and effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.
