Product Manager- FPV Drones
You in this Role You’re an FPV wizard who also knows how to run projects and products. You live and breathe drones, gear, forums, and the latest tech, but you’ve also got the business acumen to translate that passion into successful retail products. You understand pilots, manufacturers, and the community, and you’re just as comfortable soldering in the lab as you are in a pricing meeting. You thrive in fast-moving, messy start-up environments, where the only constant is change, and you have the grit to bring order, clarity, and strategy to our growing retail portfolio.
What You’ll Do
- Own the retail product lifecycle, from concept to launch to ongoing updates.
- Clean up and refresh our existing retail line: update drones, kits, and components with current UMAC parts (including our motors), ensure photos and descriptions are accurate, and standardize SKUs.
- Partner with Build, Ops, Manufacturing, and Marketing to bring new and updated products to market.
- Work closely with sponsored pilots to design, test, and refine builds that represent the best of FPV.
- Act as the FPV expert across the org: stay tapped into forums, community discussions, and the latest releases to evaluate what products belong on our shelves.
- Build relationships with manufacturers to negotiate pricing, manage supply, and coordinate releases.
- Create SOPs to ensure our retail process scales smoothly as we grow.
- Support marketing with content, tutorials, or product insights when new items launch.
What You’ll Bring
- Deep FPV experience—you’re known in the community as a go-to resource, and you know what makes a great build.
- Strong background in e-commerce, technology, or product/project management.
- Hands-on understanding of drone components, radios, goggles, and how pilots actually use them.
- Business savvy: the ability to compare products, justify retail decisions, and negotiate with suppliers.
- Collaborative communication skills for working with pilots, builders, and cross-functional teams.
- Thick skin, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a constantly evolving start-up environment.
Nice to Have:
- Established credibility in the FPV community.
- Content creation skills (e.g., tutorials, product overviews, build guides).
- Experience building or managing sponsored pilot programs.
What You’ll Gain
- The chance to shape the future of FPV retail, curating only the best products for the community.
- The opportunity to work with some of the most talented pilots and builders in the world.
- A front-row seat to the cutting edge of drone technology.
- The satisfaction of building structure, process, and scale where none existed before.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive pay aligned with experience.
- Stock options—be an owner in our growth.
- Benefits package including medical, dental, and vision
- Unlimited PTO (with unplugged time encouraged).
- Employee discounts on all gear and parts.
The People
You’ll collaborate across nearly every team at UMAC—Operations, Build, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Product. You’ll also work closely with our sponsored pilots, turning their expertise and feedback into products that represent the best of FPV.
One More Thing
We’re a start-up, which means no one hands you a playbook—you’ll be building it as you go. The role requires curiosity, initiative, and resilience. If you’re excited to be “in the weeds” of FPV while shaping the future of retail in this space, this is your shot.
