Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve a diverse K-12 student population in Bushnell, FL. This contract position spans the next school year, offering 37.5 hours per week working with mixed-age groups and varying needs related to visual impairments. The role focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support tailored to individual caseload requirements, which will be further detailed during the interview process.
Key responsibilities include assessing students' educational needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and providing direct instruction to help students access the curriculum effectively. Collaboration with other educators, therapists, and families to support student success is a vital ponent of this role. The ideal candidate will possess a valid TVI certification and have experience working with visually impaired learners across different developmental stages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Ability to manage a varied caseload with individualized approaches
- Strong munication and collaboration skills
- Licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is a plus but not required
