At Creighton Construction and Management, we are a privately held, leading Commercial Developer and Construction Contractor for the construction industry, based in Southwest Florida. We are busy! We are expanding the business at an exceptional rate, have work planned for years, and are seeking to add to our industry-esteemed team of ESTIMATORS!
Job Summary: This is a full-time, regular position, with defined in-person office hours, supporting the Construction Division in the day-to-day review and analysis of drawings, RFI’s, and bidding, receiving and qualifying bids with a focus on value engineering for multiple simultaneous projects. This position may be responsible for the training, development, and performance evaluation of less senior Estimators as assigned.
Essential Duties:
- Abide by all Company and government policies, safety rules, regulations and laws, and ensure employees abide by the same. Responsible for the daily participation in the safety program.
- Regularly reviews and evaluates project plans and specifications, bid documents, and other relevant project documents for accuracy and completeness using the highest degree of attention to detail, responsible for identifying any inconsistent issues, conflicts, and other problems in the drawings and bid documents.
- Regularly analyzes projects for value engineering options, while considering specific job conditions that may affect labor and material to be purchased and installed, recommends construction alternatives with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Regularly identifies and elevates strategies to increase bid competitiveness by maintaining up to date education, training or awareness of trends in construction, competitor advantages and disadvantages, and customer desires or goals.
- Regularly provide and update timely cost estimates, project scope, and financial margins or budget pricing based on sound understanding of bid documents, proposals, and other information gained from professional relationships with customers and co-workers, anticipating potential problems and providing sound solutions.
- Regularly prepares the RFI questions on behalf of the Company to provide project clarity and prevent project conflicts in a manner and format that promotes contractor confidence and reassurance.
- Regularly prepares bid documents to include specific scope letters for each project phase, including Blue Sheets and Evaluations with included adjustments for buy-outs, labor rates, productivity metrics, and other applicable information used to form sound business decisions.
- Regularly communicates with, receives updated pricing, and forms sound professional relationships with all vendors, sub-contractors, partners, engineers, architects, and field and support staff.
- Occasionally travel to and meet with customers and/or internal teams for meetings, physical site surveys and field condition evaluations, project updates, or other occasions, prepared to discuss bid/project status and to professionally deliver project or scope concerns with appropriate solutions.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrable ability and experience estimating multiple simultaneous commercial constructions projects or bids under short deadlines, and with a strong attention to detail and a verifiable history of successful customer service.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication and team development.
- Must be proficient in Procore Construction Software, Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project; all reporting requirements are computerized.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the employee’s state of residence.
Physical Requirements:
- 95% of the time, incumbents may sit for long periods of time in an environmentally controlled environment, typing on a keyboard, looking at a monitor, writing manual reports and/or typing electronic reports, reading fine print, talking with customers in person or over an electronic device, and performing repetitive motions such as, but not limited to, bending over drafting tables, turning or separating individual pages or sheets of paper, and carrying rolled or loose drafting plans up to 20 lbs. Incumbents may occasionally interact with angry or hostile customers or manage other stressful situations under time constraints and deadlines.
- 5% of the time, incumbents may travel to and physically inspect active construction sites, exposed to unlevel ground, overhead dangers, heavy machinery, loud noise, dust and other airborne particles or vapors, and may be exposed to rapidly changing environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures and elements, while wearing safety equipment including, but not limited to, safety footwear, eyewear, headwear, and ear protection.
