Field Service Technician
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and installation or de-installation of recycling equipment (balers, conveyors, etc, including hydraulic and electrical components), controls, and other components purchased by customers. This position works independently or in teams to ensure the highest level of quality and customer service satisfaction.
Travel is required and is typically by company vehicle. Airfare, lodging, and other travel expenses are paid by the company at the time of booking.
Essential Job Functions:
- Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all recycling equipment and controls for customer organizations.
- Utilize recycling equipment manuals, technical documents, internal, and vendor resources to research machine issues.
- Complete and submit proper documentation related to the status of the machine issues, repairs, and/or installations to the company office as well as customers.
- Promote and perform preventative maintenance on customer’s recycling equipment.
- Conduct after-sales technical support and machine maintenance training to customers.
- Maintain and develop an in-depth knowledge of the recycling equipment industry and product lines represented by the company.
- Timely completion of expense reports and other documentation as required.

This role requires working both indoors within a manufacturing plant and occasionally outdoors. Environments can range from cold and dry to hot and humid. The manufacturing area may be noisy and contain stimuli such as flashing lights and strong odors.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma/GED Preferred
- Driver’s License with clean driving record required for DOT Clearance
- Customer service experience with organized and professional attitude
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Ability and willingness to learn.
- Excellent technical, communications, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel
- Willingness to wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear in appropriate areas and follow safety practices both of Harris American and the Customer Locations as required
- Courtesy and professionalism toward coworkers and customers
- Ability to pass a background check
- Welding experience a plus
