SUMMARY:

The Development Coordinator – Events, Engagement & Stewardship will support donor and adult volunteer stewardship, engagement opportunities, and development events. Serving as a connector between donors and the program, the Development Coordinator will collaboratively develop stewardship and engagement plans and support special events management to create meaningful experiences and connections. The Development Coordinator will also support operational needs, including refining processes for acknowledgement, gift reporting, and pledge collections.

Creating value and generating positive contributions from external partners and supporters, this role plays an integral part in Breakthrough’s commitment to enhance Scholar, Volunteer and Teaching Fellow experiences and outcomes. The Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with the entire team to increase engagement and giving, and raise affinity for Breakthrough’s value and position as Miami’s Opportunity Generator.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adult Volunteer Leadership & Partner Engagement

  • Nurture growth and impact of the Breakthrough Advisory, the organization’s network of adult volunteer leaders, to support volunteer engagement and advance programming and philanthropic goals
  • Coordinate all administrative duties, such as scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, leading meeting follow up, and supporting annual planning, and engagements
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Parent Associations at host site schools
  • Develop promotional materials with marketing team to recruit new adult volunteers

Stewardship & Donor Engagement

  • Engage donors with spirit, enthusiasm, authenticity and creativity; develop meaningful relationships and purposefully connect donors with the program and mission
  • Support development and tracking of donor relations, stewardship, recognition, and retention program for donors and organizational partners
  • Support sponsorship benefit fulfillment and recognition; and major gift and annual impact reporting
  • Develop stewardship communications and materials in collaboration with the marketing team
  • Coordinate Donor Engagement Tour logistics throughout the year
  • Actively seek opportunities for Breakthrough Miami and its key stakeholders to be recognized, and build community awareness and profile

Events

  • Project manage the implementation of all development-related events (approximately 6 annual events)
  • Maintain a portfolio of in-kind donors, including silent auction donors and event vendors, while also identifying new prospects for in-kind support of events
  • Support development of event marketing materials, sponsorship packages and impact reports
  • Identify and work with relevant vendors, including caterers, AV companies, graphic designers, venues, photographers and event consultants
  • Support partner-led events which support Breakthrough Miami

Development Operations

  • Support the Development Team in leveraging CRM to measure progress, drive future success and inform future effectiveness of engagement, cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Identify and guide data cleanup projects in collaboration with Operations Associate
  • Collaborate with the Operations Associate to manage an annual planning calendar
  • Stay current with fundraising trends including, but not limited to, data management, software, research methodologies, and stewardship best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Dependable and regular attendance; evening and weekend work required to fulfill the expectations of the role. Must have reliable transportation.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years in development or events management

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Must be able to endorse and communicate the Breakthrough spirit and mission
  • Forward-thinking, innovative, and energetic professional able to develop and orchestrate impactful events, engagements, meetings and stewardship plans
  • Skilled relationship builder, comfortable with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet frequent deadlines and be self-disciplined about work prioritization
  • Successful experience adhering to a set budget
  • Collaborative work style and strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff, board members, volunteers, and donors
  • Strong writing skills and experience in production of copy for materials, such as event invitations, thank you letters, programs and brochures
  • Excellent communications skills in one-on-one, small group and large group settings
  • Strong computer experience; experience with CRM
