Senior Interior Designer (Hospitality) (San Francisco Bay Area)
Senior Interior Designer (Hospitality) – San Francisco
We are partnering with a globally recognised hospitality interior design studio to appoint a Senior Interior Designer to join their San Francisco team. This is an opportunity to work on luxury hotels, resorts, branded residences, and F&B projects across North America and internationally.
CANDIDATES MUST BE ELIGIBLE TO WORK IN THE USA - US CITIZENS OR GREEN CARD HOLDERS
About the studio
- Global design firm specialising in hospitality, residential, and mixed-use projects.
- Multi-disciplinary teams across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia collaborate on award‑winning projects for leading hotel and lifestyle brands.
- San Francisco studio offers a creative, international environment with strong emphasis on design excellence, mentorship, and career development.
The role
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will lead the design and coordination of large-scale hospitality interiors from concept through to completion. You will own key client relationships, guide design direction, and mentor midweight and junior designers, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest creative and technical standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead interior design for multiple hospitality projects (hotels, resorts, F&B, and branded residential), from concept, schematic and design development through to documentation and installation.
- Develop strong, narrative-driven design concepts, mood imagery, space plans, and interior architecture that reflect the client’s brand and project vision.
- Produce and oversee drawings, presentations, specifications, and material/FF&E selections with a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Coordinate and manage the work of the project team, including interior designers, FF&E designers, and visualisers, ensuring clear direction and quality control.
- Present design work confidently to clients, operators, and consultants; incorporate feedback while protecting the integrity of the design vision.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders (project management, architecture, lighting, branding, and engineering) to resolve design and technical issues.
- Review and redline drawings, details, and schedules; ensure compliance with applicable building codes and brand standards in the US and key global markets.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and mock‑ups; provide on-site design support and coordinate with contractors during construction.
- Support resource planning, programme tracking, and fee awareness in partnership with project leadership.
- Mentor and support the development of more junior team members, promoting a collaborative, learning-focused studio culture.
Experience and qualifications
- 5–10 years’ professional experience in interior design, with a strong focus on hospitality (luxury hotels, resorts, F&B, or high‑end residential for hospitality brands).
- Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale projects from concept through to construction in a design-led studio environment.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating hospitality projects, clear concept narratives, spatial planning, detailing, and FF&E sensibility.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office; familiarity with SketchUp, Enscape or similar visualisation tools is preferred.
- Solid understanding of US building codes, accessibility requirements, and documentation standards; experience in the San Francisco / California market is advantageous.
- Confident communicator with excellent presentation skills and the ability to manage client relationships.
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline‑driven environment with multiple concurrent projects.
- Eligible to work full‑time in the United States; relocation support may be considered for exceptional candidates.
What’s on offer
- Opportunity to join a leading global hospitality design studio working on landmark projects and prestigious international brands.
- Collaborative, diverse team culture with clear pathways for progression into associate and leadership roles.
- Competitive salary and benefits package aligned with San Francisco market norms, plus hybrid working and support for professional development (licensure, conferences, industry events).
How to apply
Please apply with your resume, portfolio (max 10–15MB or online link), and a brief note outlining your current notice period and salary expectations. Only candidates with relevant hospitality experience and a portfolio demonstrating strong design thinking will be contacted for an interview
