Architectural Historian
- Conduct historic resource field surveys.
- Conduct background research on historic resources using a variety of primary and secondary sources.
- Evaluate historic resources for eligibility in the National Register of Historic Places in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other relevant environmental laws.
- Assess effects to historic resources, including working with engineering professionals and the overall project team to avoid or minimize impacts in accordance with Section 106 and other applicable regulations.
- Prepare technical reports for distribution to state and federal agencies, including creating project and resource maps in ArcGIS.
- Maintain internal and external delivery schedules for all assigned projects, prioritized by project baseline schedule dates.
- Provide project status updates at meetings and serve as the point of contact for any historic resource questions on assigned projects.
- Must be prepared to spend some time in the field and travel to project sites, with some overnight visits required. Projects will generally be in Florida but could also be outside of the state, as needed.
- EXPERIENCE: 0-2 years of full-time professional Architectural Historian experience, including conducting historic resource surveys and background research, plus demonstrated ability to carry projects to completion.
- EDUCATION: At a minimum, must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for History or Architectural History, including a degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a closely related field.
- SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must.
- General understanding of the following industries: transportation, infrastructure, state and local governments, and/or regulatory/compliance.
- Basic level of experience with ArcGIS is desired; intermediate to advanced experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with reading transportation engineering plans is highly desired but not required.
- The position may require the use of a company vehicle. The applicant must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.
