Director Physician Recruitment and Retention

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $50.50 - $68.19 / hour
Position Summary
The Director of Physician Recruitment provides strategic and operational leadership for all physician and provider recruitment activities. This role oversees day-to-day recruitment operations, develops departmental policies and processes, manages vendor relationships, and partners closely with system leadership to support workforce planning, growth, and retention initiatives across Lee Health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic planning and daily operations for physician and provider recruitment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standardized recruitment processes.
- Manage and execute contracts with external sourcing firms and recruitment vendors.
- Develop, manage, and execute the departmental budget.
- Design and implement innovative recruitment and onboarding strategies to enhance candidate experience, engagement, and long-term retention.
- Serve as a key advisor to LPG and system leadership on workforce planning, physician demand, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve the candidate experience throughout the full recruitment and onboarding lifecycle.
- Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders, including Credentialing, Finance, Payroll, Human Resources, Physician Compensation, and Contracting, to ensure efficient and compliant processes.
- Lead and participate in organizational projects that support Lee Health strategic priorities, community access, and employee retention.
- Stay current on physician recruitment trends, best practices, and market conditions to maintain a competitive advantage.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and orientation of recruitment staff.
- Provide ongoing leadership, training, coaching, and performance management to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality recruitment outcomes.
- Educate hiring managers and candidates on physician recruitment policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws.
- Actively participate in recruiting events, database sourcing, marketing campaigns, job fairs, and conferences.
- Analyze recruitment metrics and data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelors degree required
- Masters degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare operations, recruitment, and/or HR.
- Strong physician recruitment experience within a healthcare setting preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Experience in HR development, sales/marketing, performance improvement, and workflow/process redesign.
- Familiarity with physician compensation models and structures.
Certification:
- PHR or SPHR preferred.

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
- Strong ability to influence, negotiate, and present to diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret recruitment data and trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Internet).
- Flexible, creative, innovative, and able to effectively promote and sell Lee Health to candidates.
- Willingness to travel as required.
