Call Center Medical Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Triage Medical Assistant to join our dynamic primary care team. As a Triage Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our primary care office by accurately assessing patients' medical needs, prioritizing care, and assisting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient-centered care. Your exceptional communication, multitasking, and clinical skills will contribute to maintaining a welcoming and organized environment for both patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Respond to all incoming phone calls to the medical office.
- Triage and Prioritization: Document messages, prioritize urgency and route to appropriate person for further action. Determine appropriate level of care by assessing patient conditions, symptoms, and medical history. Prioritize patients for timely evaluation by healthcare providers, redirecting urgent cases as necessary.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other team members to relay vital information, ensure proper patient flow, and facilitate seamless care coordination.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) by documenting triage assessments, patient information, and actions taken during the triage process.
- Patient Education: Provide basic medical information, instructions, and education to patients on self-care, medication administration, and follow-up appointments under the guidance of healthcare providers.
- Emergency Situations: Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, initiate emergency protocols, and provide immediate assistance to patients in distress.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other medical assistants to ensure cohesive patient care and efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
- Active Medical Assistant certification or licensure required.
- Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in using eClinicalWorks.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, especially in emergency situations.
Working Conditions: The Triage Medical Assistant will primarily work in a fast-paced primary care office environment. The role involves frequent interactions with patients, healthcare providers, and office staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.27 - $19.60 per hour
