Education: High School Diploma/Some Computer Skills

Experience: Big Box Retailer, Garden Center, Merchandising, Supervision, Trainer, Live Goods.

Capabilities: Ability to work outdoors on concrete floor in various weather conditions. Lift up to 30lbs; reach above shoulder level while lifting; twist, bend and stoop while lifting. Standing, walking, continuous movement up to 2 hours before a sitting break. Push/pull store shipping carts. Hold and operate a 7” to 8” tablet in hand.

Compensation: Hourly rate/30 - 38 hr/wk

Requirements: Must have reliable transportation between stores, work a flexible schedule, must be able to manage time effectively, multi-task, and problem solve. Good people skills are a necessity. Must be able to work outside in the elements for the length of 2 hours or longer before a break.

Goal: Help both the retailer and the vendors maximize and increase sales volume and lower markdowns. This is to be accomplished through improved execution and training.

General: Assess the garden center, assist and train Walmart associates to merchandise and maintain an appealing garden center. It is the responsibility of the Merchandising Consultant to diplomatically resolve issues that may arise as a result of their store visits and evaluations in order to maintain the standards established to achieve the goals.

Responsibilities at the store:

• Connect with store associates and assess safety issues and merchandising needs
• Training is key to the success of this position because store employees who have an awareness and appreciation of the products are more likely to care for them and recommend them to their customers. Maintaining a good rapport with Walmart employees at all levels is essential and having effective communication with both employees and customers is critical to success.
• Ensure that live plant displays are properly signed and well organized, following Walmart's modular layout
• Ensure that plants are rotated and organized segregate product for store markdown
• Ensure that store front and entrance displays are full of fresh, colorful product
• Ensure benches are prepped for fresh product deliveries, consolidate plants where needed
• Ensure empty carts are moved to designated areas
• Ensure work areas are clean and consolidate empty trays to recycling cart
• Train store associates on best practices based on seasonal need; watering, merchandising, CVP (Customer Value Program)
• Connect with store associates on follow through tasks - Leave a list for store personnel to follow-up on

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
