Lee Health is seeking an Internal Medicine/Transitional Year Faculty Physician!

Lee Health is a nonprofit organization with more than 17,000 employees, 4,500 volunteers, and more than 1,200 employed primary care and specialty providers with multiple practice locations throughout Southwest Florida. The organization has four acute care hospitals and one specialty hospital that together house over 1,800 hospital beds.

Position Information:

As we expand our GME Programs within Lee Health, we are seeking Internal Medicine Physicians to join our Internal Medicine/Transitional Year Graduate Medicine Education team as the Associate Program Director! This is a new, exciting role that involves providing clinical patient care and mentoring residents, while also serving as an expert competency evaluator. The Associate Program Director will work closely with the Program Director and Core Faculty to develop and implement the resident evaluation system, core curriculum, didactics and clinical . Administrative responsibilities also include knowledge of the ACGME guidelines and responsibility for compliance with guidelines as delegated by the Program Director.

By exemplifying professionalism and a commitment to safe, quality, and cost-effective patient-centered care, this position will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our residency program.The right candidate will be willing to complete a mix of outpatient continuity clinic and inpatient care.

Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of an ACGME Accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
  • Must meet all of the requirements for faculty members set forth in the Accreditation Counsel for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Internal Medicine
  • Current Florida Medical License in Good Standing (or ability to obtain this prior to start date)
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Will be employed by Lee Health
  • Faculty physicians will dedicate an average of 15 hours per week to the program
  • BLS, ACLS required from the American Heart Association

Preferences:

  • 3 years of successful academic experience in graduate medical education preferred
  • Educational and administrative experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, supervising, and evaluating internal medicine residents using real time face to face feedback
  • Participate in remediation of residents
  • Participate in resident's Didactic conferences including M&M, EMB, journal club, daily morning report, noon conferences as a lecturer, etc
