About the Position
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Prepare the OR for surgeries, ensuring that instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and sterile.
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists intraoperatively by anticipating needs and ensuring adherence to sterile field practices.
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process, documenting and communicating any changes to the surgical team.
- Ensure accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps according to facility policy.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards.
- Provide education and support to patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and OR staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in an acute care or hospital setting (Level I Trauma experience preferred).
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active Florida RN license or Compact State License (required).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- Specialty certification (CNOR) a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in surgical instrumentation, circulating, and scrubbing roles.
- Experience with various surgical specialties such as general, ortho, neuro, vascular, and robotics.
- Familiarity with EMR and perioperative documentation systems.
