Front and Back Office Medical Assistant

Overview:
We are an established Primary Care Practice extending an exciting opportunity for a Medical Assistant to learn, grow and advance their career in healthcare.
We are looking for a professional, reliable and knowledgeable individual capable of multitasking, communicating effectively and assisting with front office responsibilities.
Administrative duties include scheduling appointments,chronic care management and documentation of prescription refills.
Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination and administering medications as directed by the physician or nurse practitioner ("provider").
We are a team, and we would like for you to join us. We offer incentive bonuses for all staff members, paid monthly. New hires are eligible to participate in our office bonus/incentive program after one month.
Responsibilities:
Record patients' medical history, vital signs and information such as test results in the medical record, venipuncture and EKG.
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
Interview patients to obtain medical information and record their history.
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the provider.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and provider's instructions to patients.
Help provider examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider.
Administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, perform basic lab tests and change dressings.
Send lab results to providers for review.
Contacts patients with lab results as instructed by the provider.
Perform essential office operations, including maintaining various logs and liaising with hospital and physician offices.
Verify patient's identification and benefits.
Assist the front office staff as needed.
Prepare collected specimen for laboratory analysis.
Order supplies and maintain the back office. Ensure supplies are maintained and ordered in cost-effective manner.
Maintain and monitor biohazard receptacles.
Maintain OSHA and HIPPA standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Certificate or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
Experience:
One year experience as a Medical Assistant required
Venipuncture
EKG
Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Medical Assistant Certification required
Must Pass Background Check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
