Department: Family Law - Bartow Courthouse
- The Mission of the Clerk of Courts has a high degree of public accountability, regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
- Support and comply with the Mission Statement and Code of Conduct of the Clerk of Courts.
- Maintain a high standard relating to professional conduct and behavior.
- Work cooperatively with other employees of the work unit and embrace a teamwork approach to completing tasks.
- Attend Injunction for Protection court hearings and maintain accurate records of the court’s directions and orders.
- Support judges, attorneys, and other agencies in the justice system and public as needed, including preparation of evidence lists, court dates, orders, directions, judgments, and other documents, administering oaths, distributing copies, as needed.
- Prepare documents before court and perform follow-up support duties that include maintaining court documents, docketing court data, reviewing documents and the case management system for accuracy, completing clarifications, and posting information as needed.
- Process new and subsequent documents and submit to the judge same day for review.
- Prepare orders for Temporary Injunctions according to judges’ instructions and assist customers with Violation of Injunction process.
- The role requires periodic on-call duty, rotating with other team members, to ensure 24/7 coverage for critical services in Domestic Violence and Risk Protection Orders.
- Assist as a back-up for the DIY room, as needed.
- Occasional overtime may be required in order to serve late-arriving Domestic Violence customers.
- Perform miscellaneous courtroom support duties and all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, read and speak English effectively to customers and employees, and write routine correspondence and reports.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage work to meet necessary time requirements, performance measures, and workload.
- Ability to apply job-related Florida statutes, and Clerk’s policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail, and ability to cover the work of others to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team member with other employees of the work unit, judiciary and judiciary staff.
- Ability to remain flexible as conditions and procedures change and continue effective performance in the face of additional challenges.
- Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe and related software applications and accurately type 35 wpm.
- Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Six months’ related job experience and/or training.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
